New Songs Now at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater

Simone was a featured songwriter/performer in the New Songs Now series at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater. She performed in the series with Helen Park (conversation facilitated by Natasha Sinha) on July 25th, 2018. Other songwriters featured in the 2018 series include Lucas Steele, Or Matias, Georgia Stitt, and Melissa Li.

New York Musical Festival's Intersecting Chords concert

Simone was a featured songwriter in NYMF's Intersecting Chords concert, an event that "celebrates female, queer, and trans artists who are changing the landscape of musical theater." She performed "Opus" with Emily Gardner Xu Hall, Jordan Tyson, Ed Rosini, and Jason Weisinger on July 23rd, 2018.

Other songwriters included Shaina Taub, Ellen Winter, Zoe Sarnak, Anna K. Jacobs, Lauren Pritchard, Britt Bonney, and the Bengsons.

The Songs of Simone Allen at Feinstein's/54 Below

Simone made her Feinstein's/54 Below debut in her concert The Songs of Simone Allen on Saturday January 27th, 2018 at 11:30 PM. 

Simone presents a night of original singer/songwriter material as well as songs from her current musical theater project, Underground. Her unique sound draws from jazz, pop, rock, folk, and musical theater. She has received praise for her “deep and varied collection of work” and her “natural fantastic melodic sensibility.” She will be joined by several guest singers and guest musicians.

 


NYCLU Broadway Stands Up For Freedom concert

Simone won the NYCLU's 2017 protest song contest "Songs of Freedom: Music for the People, By the People" with her song "Never Gonna Stop." She performed it with Shaina Taub at the NYCLU's Broadway Stands Up For Freedom concert (directors Daniel Goldstein and Peter Flynn, music director Kurt Crowley) on July 17th, 2017.

Freedom Song Contest 2017

The New York Civil Liberties Union is pleased to announce that Simone Allen, with her song, "Never Gonna Stop" is the winner of our 2017 protest song contest Songs of Freedom: Music for the People, By the People. Simone, a New York City transplant, hails from the west coast and moved to New York for a position at the Public Theatre.

The New York Civil Liberties Union and American Civil Liberties Union hosted the annual benefit concert, "Broadway Stands Up for Freedom" for a sold-out crowd at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts.
